雪糕

The Cantonese word for ice cream 雪糕 is snow cake (雪 is snow, and 糕 is cake). The Mandarin 冰淇淋 is the more literal ice cream (冰 is ice and 淇淋 is a loanword for cream).

Ice cream is thought of as a Western treat, but frozen desserts have (somehow) been available throughout Asia far longer than in Europe.
