酒

Looking at the components of the character 酒, 氵 is the radical for water (if you see this on a character, it probably has to do with something liquid), and 酉 resembles a wine vessel.

酒 is also Japanese (kanji) for sake.

酒 refers to any alcoholic drink, but China has its own long history of liquor, including wine and beer. In fact, Chinese restaurants are often advertised as 酒家 (liquor house).
