燒肉

燒 is roast, and 肉 is meat, so 燒肉 is roast meat.

燒 is also the first character in 燒味 siu mei, the famiy of roast meats of which this is one, and also the first character in 燒賣 siu mai, no relation.

Juicy roast pork with a crispy golden skin, known as siu yuk (the Cantonese pronunciation). Pork belly is cut into squares or strips so that each piece includes a strip of the crunchy skin.
