About This Dish

Fortune cookies are ubiquitious in Chinese-American restaurants and can be found in bakeries and grocery stores (but I've never seen one in Hong Kong).

History

There's debate whether fortune cookies are of Chinese-American or Japanese-American origin, and whether they originated in San Francisco or Los Angeles, but either way, it could be claimed they derive from Japan in the form of tsujiura senbei, notes baked into crackers.
