Lapsang souchong, also known as smoked tea due to the smoke-fired preparation that lends to its flavor, is a black tea from the Wuyi region of the Fujian province in China.

Sir Patrick Stewart initially suggested lapsang souchong as his character Jean-Luc Picard's preferred tea, but it was decided that Earl Grey was more safely recognizable by the Star Trek audience. However, lapsang souchong is the preferred tea of Sherlock Holmes.
