糖水

糖 is sugar, and 水 is water, so 糖水 is sugar water.

The left component of 糖 is the skinny radical form of 米, the character for uncooked rice. That's an evolutionary vestige of the character's original use to denote sweet rice cakes.

In Cantonese cuisine, sweet soups are served as dessert at the end of meals or in dessert shops. Examples include red bean soup and sweet potato soup
