葡撻

葡 is short for Portugal (the full word is 葡萄牙 pòuh tòuh ngàh) and 撻 is the same taat as in dan taat, so 葡撻 is Portuguese tart.

Portuguese-style egg tarts, originating from Macau and a specialty there, feature a burnt top on the custard filling reminiscent of creme brulee.

History

They are derived from the Portuguse pastel de nata.
